Sustainability Report

Sustainability Report

This report makes public Viu Manent’s socially responsible management in the economic-financial, social, and environmental areas for the period of January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, and compares it with that of 2009 by rigorously employing for the first time the methodology of the Third Generation (G3) Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Viña Viu Manent will publish annual Sustainability Reports consistent with the principles of content and quality set forth in the Guide for Preparing Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reports, in accordance with the manual available for that purpose in www.globalreporting.org.

In 2010 the Wine Industry’s Technical Consortiums signed a consultancy agreement with the Center for Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development of the Pontifical Catholic of Valparaíso (PUCV), co-financed by InnovaChile, that seeks to instill the capabilities necessary for the Vinos de Chile A.G. member wineries to correctly prepare G3 GRI Sustainability Reports.

Message fron the CEO.
I am pleased to present you with Viña Viu Manent’s first sustainability report in which we share our performance in the economic-financial, environmental, and social areas of our operations during the year 2010.

This report, prepared in accordance with the G3 and GRI methodology, will be a useful tool for economic, social, and environmental traceability, as well as an effective means of communicating information on the progress of our company with stakeholders, thereby generating credibility, good relations, and solid channels of communication. It will also be very helpful internally for use in the self-diagnosis of the processes, while helping us identify future challenges on these three administrative fronts.

Our 75 years of experience producing, making, and selling wine, and especially in the past two decades as exporters of our products to more than 45 countries around the world, has led us to align our business strategy with sustainable management. We are highly motivated to improve constantly and to be more demanding. We are also aware that what is needed when undertaking a reporting process is progress, not perfection.

We look forward to your ongoing participation, because the key to progress in sustainability is feedback from others and dialog. We invite you to learn about our organization in more detail through this, our first sustainability report, which will be, in the future, a mechanism of accountability that will enhance the transparency of our processes at Viu Manent and that will facilitate the measurement and evaluation of our sustainable management.

Cordially,

José Miguel Viu
