Liquid Waste Management (LIWs)

Liquid industrial wastes from the production process are treated in our wine cellar located on the San Carlos de Cunaco estate, where we have earned the Environmental Qualification for the “Treatment System for disposing of LIWs on the ground.”

There, through a primary treatment consisting of separating out solids larger than 2 mm in the cellar, the LIWs are moved by gravity through a parabolic filter (reception chamber) and on to a 10 m3 decanter where a fraction of the suspended solids in the LIWs settles out.

The LIWs are sent from the sedimentation zone directly to the 600 m3 waterproofed and oxygenated accumulation reservoir for subsequent neutralization and disposal on the ground.

This treatment enables the winery to fully comply with current environmental rules.
