Since the manufacturing of glass requires extremely high temperatures, hence a lot of energy, its production causes a huge amount of GHGs to be released during the combustion process. Therefore, using less glass helps significantly to reduce the quantity of GHGs. Huge savings are also generated during the transportation by reducing the weightof the load in the containers.
The objective is to use lighter-weight, environmentally friendly bottles—without losing presence or body—in order to reduce the tons of glass waste produced in the world everyday.
The use of glass in bottles is the primary source of Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHG) in our operational processes, and reducing them plays a major role in reaching our objectives, therefore using lighter-weight bottles (less glass) is essential.
Reducing GHG emissions through the use of glass bottles: We expect to decrease the intensity of our GHG emissions from glass bottles by 13% between 2011 and 2015.
