To achieve CarbonNeutral® delivery status, Viu Manent worked with Dueman; an approved reseller; to measure and reduce its carbon footprint to next zero. all the emissions relating to the deliveries
were quantified and then reduced through combing internal changes with carbon offsetting.
The carbon footprint is a compilation of GEG emissions determined from data collected from records stored in our offices in Cunaco (Colchagua) and Santiago.
Through offsetting, every tonnes of CO2 emitted by Vina Manent is matched by an equivalent amount saved by a project somewhere else in the world. Viu Manent has selected two renewable energy projects:
Rio Ceramics Biomass Project1 and the Tieling Coal Mine Methane Capture2.
1. The Rio Ceramic Biomass Project replaces heavy oils with renewable biomass, which are less harmful than fossil fuels, helping to fuel manufacturing facilities in Brazil. By introducing biomass as a form of alternative energy, Brazil can ensure a sustainable future for their rapidly growing country.
2. The Tieling Coal Mine Methane Capture is a program that captures coalmine methane and recycles it as energy for industrial and home use in China. This procedure has helped to enhance the Chinese economy, by providing enough fuel to power more factories and by default creating more jobs.
